21 October 2011 Baku Boulevard to be provided with areas for children, the elderly and disabled
Baku Boulevard to be provided with areas for children, the elderly and disabled Áàêèíñêèé áóëüâàð ñòàíåò âíèìàòåëüíîé ê èíâàëèäàì ñðåäîé îáèòàíèÿ.Baku Boulevard is going to become attentive habitat for people with disabilities.
Nazim Majidov, deputy head of the Maritime National Park (Baku Boulevard) under the Cabinet Ministers of Azerbaijan, informs that specialized recreation areas will be organized within the framework of expanding the boulevard westwards (to the National Flag Square).
"There will appear playgrounds for children, areas for the elderly, disabled children, elderly people with disabilities," he said.
Currently expansion work is being done from both sides of the boulevard: from the side of the park itself and the State Flag Square.
The works will be connected in the center of the boulevard, where a small part of the dockyard still remains not demolished. Its puling down should be completed shortly.
As a result, the length of the Baku Boulevard will grow from 4 to 6 km. The construction in this part of the park should be ended by May 2012 (the period of Eurovision 2012 in Baku). Then development of the seaside park in an easterly direction (towards Zikh township) will begin. This work will be done in 5-10 years. As a result, the length of the Baku Boulevard will reach 15 km.
