Serbia interested in development of relations with Azerbaijan in labor and social protection
Serbia is interested in development of relations with Azerbaijan in the field of labor and social protection, Serbian Minister of Labor and Social Protection Rasim Ljajic said at a meeting with Azerbaijani Labour and Social Protection Minister Fizuli Alekperov, the ministry reported on Thursday.
Alekperov met with his Serbian counterpart, which is on visit to Baku to participate in the conference entitled "Policy of modernization: new economic and social challenges".
He spoke about Azerbaijan's rapid economic development, its growing authority in the region, the achievements in socio-economic sphere.
"Azerbaijan, which is developing both oil and non-sectors of economy is distinguished by its leading position in the world in accordance with the dynamics of economic development, and the country's share in the South Caucasus economy," Alekperov noted.
Over the past eight years the poverty ratio decreased from 49 percent to 9 percent, roughly 1 million new jobs were created, and the level of unemployment dropped to 54.6 percent.
"Azerbaijan successfully continued to implement all social programs even in the condition of global economic crisis when developed countries postponed their implementation," Alekperov underlined.
Serbian Minister of Labor and Social Protection, in his turn, stressed that relations between Azerbaijan and Serbia are on high level.
According to Ljajic, the countries have signed a range of agreements on cooperation in various spheres. The Serbian government is interested in development of relations with Azerbaijan in the field of labor and social protection, and all efforts will be taken for this end.
The ministers also discussed issues connected to expansion of cooperation.
